Hawkwatch Arch
HawkWatch International is an organization whose mission is "To monitor and protect hawks, eagles, other birds of prey and their enivironment through research, education, and conservation." The organization maintains a field station in eastern Nevada in the Goshute Mountains. Rob and Kathleen Jones recently visited the station (Oct. '05). The hike to the station is a steep 2.5 miles; but fortunately, the hike to the arch is only a quarter mile. Go to www.hawkwatch.org for a map and directions. From the trail head, the arch is on the left about a quarter mile up the trail. The arch is in limestone, with a span of about 6 ft.
