Nevills Arch
Nevills Arch is located in Owl Canyon in the Cedar Mesa area of southern Utah. It is named for Norman Nevills who was the first boatman to take paying customers on the Colorado River through Grand Canyon. He also had tours of the San Juan River. He and his wife were killed in an airplane crash at Mexican Hat on Sept. 19, 1949. It is shown on the “Snow Flat Spring Cave 7.5 minute USGS quadrangle (1989)” map. It is located on the north side of the canyon in a large rock fin. From the Fish/Owl car park, hike down Owl Canyon approximately 4.1 miles to the viewpoint of this delightful arch. The arch has a span of 145 ft. and an opening height of 80 ft.
