This arch is in the Red River Gorge Geological Area in central Kentucky
about 60 miles east of Lexington on the Bert T. Combs Mountain Parkway
(KY Rt. 402) near the town of Slade. For maps showing the Red River
Gorge and also Natural Bridge State Park nearby, go to
http://www.pa.uky.edu/ ~trice/gorge/ .
The author counted 19 named arches in this area including this one.
The area is laced with roads; and the hikes to most of the arches are quite
short. Photo by Robert O'connell
