Lesotho: Sehlabathebe National Park
A Special Portfolio by Marie Lefevre
Lesotho is a small country surrounded entirely by the Republic of South Africa. Lesotho's only national park, Sehlabathebe, is a mountain wilderness in the southeastern corner of the country, far from any towns. A 4WD vehicle is essential since the roads are little more than rutted tracks. At the end of the road is a small lodge and a short hike east from there delivers several delightful natural arches. The one above has an estimated span of 16 feet. The one below has an estimated span of 13 feet.
The arch in the two photos below (showing the same arch from two different sides) has an estimated span of 13 feet. The arch in the bottom photo has an estimated span of 10 feet. More photos of Sehlabathebe National Park can be found here.
