Eye of the Horse (Aylors)
Also known as Aylors Arch. This arch is in the Superstition Mountains N.E. of Apache Junction, Arizona. Drive Rt. 88 north from Apache Junction for about 5 ½ miles and turn right onto Farm Road 78 to the Dutchman’s trailhead. The trail starts on Dutchman’s Trail No. 104 and branches shortly to the Black Mesa Trail No. 241.
The arch can be viewed from a distance after 5 or 6 miles; but to get closer requires some risky off-trail hiking. For Rob’s report on this hike, go to Links on Bob’s Arches and click on Wilderness Vagabond, then on Reports, and finally, on Super Superstition.
