Large Rock in Eagle Park

On the main Park road just past the parking turnout for Sand Dune and Broken but before Skyline Arch turn left onto a dirt road (normally two-wheel drive) and follow this road past the sign for the Tower Arch trail head. The last time the author looked for the four-wheel drive turnoff from this road, it had been closed for scenic restoration. There may or may not be a signed trail head to Eagle Park. In any case, check with a ranger at the Visitors Center to determine if this area is open to the public. Not only is this an interesting rock, but it could have been an arch at one time. |
