NABSQNO 13S-378790-4186030. La Ventana is a fin natural arch eroded through a volcanic dike. Although La Ventana has some attributes of a shelter natural arch, the oval shape of its opening and the shapes of adjacent depressions in the dike clearly indicate that it formed as a fin natural arch. It is located north of Del Norte in the Rio Grande National Forest, in Saguache County, Colorado. Access is via rough, dirt, Forest Service roads that connect State Highway 112 to a parking area just west of the arch. The arch is a major attraction of the National Forest and is shown on most detailed maps of the area. It is listed in the Vreeland catalog as number 18-1. La Ventana has a span of about 40 feet and a height of about 60 feet.
