NABSQNO 13S-261098-3867619Eye of the Moon in Cibola County, New Mexico Photo by Jay Wilbur NABSQNO 13S-261098-3867619. Eye of the Moon is a fin natural arch with an oval opening. It is located about 2 miles northwest of the Acoma Pueblo Visitor Center on the Acoma Reservation, Cibola County, New Mexico. The services of a guide must be obtained before visiting the arch and a special fee is required for taking any photos. The arch is in an area of religious significance to the Acoma people, so visitation is not always allowed. Do not attempt to visit this arch without permission. Although Eye of the Moon is a fin natural arch, its opening has enlarged to the point where the base is nearly at ground level. Hence, it would be easy to mistake it for a shelter natural arch. It has eroded through a thin fin of Zuni sandstone. It has a span of 18 feet and a height of 23 feet. Vreeland listed this arch in his catalog as number 17-101.
