NABSQNO 13S-240317-3868146Zuni Arch in Cibola County, New Mexico Photo by Jay Wilbur NABSQNO 13S-240317-3868146. Zuni Arch is a pothole natural arch eroded through Zuni sandstone. Because the arch is rather old, it would be easy to classify it as a cave natural arch. Nevertheless, a distinct pothole is found behind the arch. It is located on Acoma Pueblo lands in Cibola County, New Mexico. Although the services of an Acoma guide must be obtained before directly accessing the arch, it is easily viewed and photographed from State Highway 117. However, do not cross the fence below the arch. Zuni Arch is a somewhat inappropriate name since the arch is on Acoma lands. Perhaps the name refers to the geological formation. Vreeland includes this arch as number 17-17 in his catalog. It has a span of about 30 feet.
