Ponta da Piedade Arch,
first in a portfolio by Guilain Debossens
On the southern Atlantic coast of Portugal near the town of Lagos, there
is a headland of sculptured cliffs containing what is probably the largest
concentration of sea arches in the world - over 60 of them! The rock is like
a swiss cheese, riddled with holes, caves, and natural tunnels. The area also
boasts sheer cliffs, isolated needles, and a deep sandy creek (the Ponta da
Piedade creek) which leads to the four beautiful spans shown here.
