The Capadocia region in central Turkey is covered with a volcanic tuff, a soft stone that is easily eroded and carved, making for a fascinating geological landscape of spires and numerous small natural arches, including this natural bridge in Red Valley near Göreme. It has an estimated span of 15 feet. The area is known not only for its natural formations but for the numerous churches and homes carved into the rock. Photo by ali sf.
