NEWFOUNDLAND: The Dungeons. In 1497 John Cabot sailed from Bristol, England on a transatlantic voyage. He sighted land at Cape Bonavista. Not far from where he landed are these two large arches. The Cape is on the Bonavista Peninsula to the north of St. Johns. Photo by Ray Millar.
