3-minute video. Extreme arching, like other extreme sports, can be dangerous. On March 24, 2013, a 22-year old man was killed during a rope swing at Corona Arch because the rope was too long and he hit bottom. Just a couple of months earlier, Utah state officials had banned commercial swinging from Corona Arch but non-commercial rope swinging was still allowed. All rope swinging from Corona Arch has been banned since January 2016.
