NABSQNO 12S-424340-4088350. Hole in the Rock is a large caprock natural arch. Its opening has formed beneath a lintel of Temple Cap Formation overlying a butte of Navajo sandstone. It is located in a remote and hard to access area of the Paria Plateau, in Coconino County, Arizona. Anyone attempting to visit this arch should first review their route and equipment with rangers at the Paria Contact Station on Highway 89 in Utah. Vreeland listed Hole in the Rock as number 12-7 in his catalog and reported a span of 30 feet.
