Alligator Arch in San Juan County, New Mexico

NABSQNO 13S-247190-4078850 (f). Alligator Arch was a caprock natural arch eroded through San Jose Formation sandstone. It was located about nine miles east of Aztec, San Juan County, New Mexico. Access to the site where the arch once stood is via a complex of mineral exploration roads (dirt) stemming north from highway 173. Alligator Arch had a span of about 15 feet.
