Index Page 26 - Lower Alidemma Area

ALG-305, Double level Arch, Lower Alidemma Area. Main opening 18.5 meter span (measured), 7 meter height (estimated); upper opening 7.9 meter span. GPS 32Q 656891 2607296. From ALG-268 (unnamed arch 65) drive approximately 5 km to the east to this very nice arch. It is not in the plain; first stay on the left side of the rock masses and then go through them. The span is accessible by jeep but it is very well hidden. It is hard to find because it is not visible until you are very close to it. The author climbed up very carefully to the upper opening to measured the span.

ALG-306, Wasp Nest Arch, Lower Alidemma Area. 15.5 meter span (measured), 6 meter height (estimated). GPS 32Q 658683 2604011. Find this arch in the visinity of ALG-305 (Double Level Arch) to the south using GPS above. The arch is easy to find and it is accessible by jeep. The nickname comes from the numerous wasp nests located under the span.

ALG-307, unnamed arch 73, Lower Alidemma Area. 5 meter span (estimated). This arch is located in the visinity of ALG-306 (Wasp Nest Arch), to the southeast.

ALG-318, Debris Arch, Lower Alidemma Area. 13.1 meter span (main opening), 5.5 meters span (second opening), both measured. GPS 32Q 656719 2606272. This arch is located in the scattered rock masses along the range of Tassili-n-Ajjer plateau, on the plain side. The arch is accessible by jeep. Use GPS coordinates above to find it. Also, a useful landmark is an intersting  isolated rounded rock in a conspicuous position located 100 meters from the arch. In the photo, the second opening can be seen but is small. It is formed from the debris of the colapsed roof inside the span.

ALG-319, Sunlight Arch, Lower Alidemma Area. 13.3 meter span, 4.0 meter height, both measured. GPS 32Q 658019 2604036. This arch is located in the scattered rock masses along the range of Tassili-n-Ajjer plateau, on the plain side. The arch is accessible by jeep. Use GPS coordinates above to find it. A useful landmark is ALG-320 (Guide Mark Arch) in a conspicuous position located 200 meters north of the arch. This arch was found thanks to the sunlight through the opening while driving by for the third time.

ALG-320, Guide Mark Arch, Lower Alidemma Area. 6.0 meter span (measured). This arch is located 200 meters to the north of ALG-319 (Sunlight Arch).

ALG-321, unnamed arch 77, Lower Alidemma Area. 6 meter span (estimated). This arch is located 300 meters to the northeast of and opposite to ALG-319 (Sunlight Arch). There is a similar arch adjacent to it. Both are double arches with a delicate arm inside.

ALG-322, Low Tunnel Arch, Lower Alidemma Area. 5 meter span (estimated). Find this arch on the plain near the tracks to Tadrart Region among the few scattered rock masses which occur there.
