The Natural Bridge of Virginia has a span of 90 feet and a height of 175 feet. It is made of limestone, and was formed by an underground stream originally flowing through a cave. The rest of the roof of the cave collapsed, leaving only the arch remaining. It is on private land (once owned by Thomas Jefferson) and there is an admission charge. It is located in the town of Natural Bridge, Virginia. Photo by Ellen Burke.
