Royal Arch

Royal Arch in the Little Horn Mountains of southwest Arizona provides another example of how natural arch names can be confusing. One famous "Royal Arch" is an alcove in Yosemite National Park, California. It isn't even a true natural arch! Then, there is a well known Royal Arch near Boulder, Colorado, and another along the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon, Arizona. But the most famous Royal Arch, also in Arizona, is the next arch in our Gallery. Is it fair for Arizona to have three Royal Arches? The Royal Arch pictured above, with a span of 20 feet, is probably the least known of the three, but is certainly a beautiful feature. Photo by Jay Wilbur.
